ABOUT ISAAC

Isaac de Heer has a Masters of Music Therapy, and has worked as a Registered Music Therapist in Hospitals, Early Childhood Centres, Community, Aged Care and Special Developmental School settings, with additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy.

Isaac has established Northern Rivers Music Therapy out of a lifelong passion and curiosity for the positive impact of music, which has seen him work within music education, sound production, and performance. Isaac has performed his original work with top Australian and International artists, playing stages abroad and across Australia. He has collected instruments and ideas along the way- culminating in an extensive body of recorded work, and a passion for bringing songwriting to the therapeutic setting.

In Music Therapy sessions, Isaac uses a resource orientated approach to draw from the strengths of each participant and their unique connection to music, working towards their health related goals.

NRMT have a Music Therapy Studio in Ballina, NRMT is also a mobile service for those who require services to be provided in the home. Travel can incur additional fees depending on location.

NRMT's pricing is flexible, taking individual circumstances into account. When working within the NDIS, NRMT is guided by the NDIS price guide.

Music therapy is the intentional use of music by a University trained professional who is registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association Inc.

Registered music therapists draw on an extensive body of research and are bound by a code of ethics that informs their practice. Music therapists incorporate a range of music making methods within and through a therapeutic relationship. They are employed in a variety of sectors including health, community, aged care, disability, early childhood, and private practice.

Music therapy is different from music education and entertainment as it focuses on health, functioning and wellbeing.

No previous music experience is required. Music Therapy explores music for its health potentials and you will be guided in exploring music in a way that is comfortable and meaningful for you.

Music Therapy work varies in length and is guided by individual need. Benefits can be experienced within a short timeframe or in an ongoing arrangement.
